Bulgarian food

Bulgarian food is simple, home style cooking shaped by Balkan, Ottoman and Slavic influences. The cuisine leans on fresh vegetables, yoghurt, grilled meats and slow cooked stews, with bread and pastries also playing an important role. On most menus you’ll find dishes such as kebapche (grilled minced meat sausages), kavarma (a slow cooked meat and vegetable stew), and sarmi (stuffed vine or cabbage leaves), while banitsa, a cheese filled filo pastry is a bakery and one of our favourites.
